Association for Dental Education in Europe Annual meeting has successfully finished


Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) Annual meeting has successfully finished. It was held in Baltic States for the first time.  Organizers of conference were Riga Stradiņš University and Institute of Stomatology. From 27.-30.08.2014. 400 participants from universities all over the world gathered to attend lectures, seminars, interest groups in university and institute. There were guests from EU countries, China, Australia, Egypt, Israel, Chile, USA, Kuwait, Russia, Japan and Korea.

Guest speakers presented lectures on such important subjects:

  •  Learning and its contribution to culture – what we learn by studying our closest living relatives, chimpanzees and bonobos, Martin Surbeck;
  • Has DentEd really changed the Curriculum?!, Winfried Harzer;
  • Electronic patient records in dental education and research, 10 years’ experience, Pal Barkvoll;
  • Outpatient undergraduate clinical teaching, Harald Eriksen;
  • Vision 2020: Shaping the future of oral health, Orlando Monteiro da Silva;
  • Dentistry is medicine: dentists should be educated as oral physicians, David Nash;
  • Ethics and education: the challenge of consumerism, Vija Sīle;
  • The beneficial role of anatomy for the progress in art, Ojārs Spārītis.
